Commercial EV Charging Installation

Demand for workplace and fleet charging is growing fast, and the infrastructure decisions you make now will shape what you can do for the next decade. We design and install EV charging solutions for commercial and education sites across London and the South-East. As an OZEV-authorised installer, we manage the full process: site assessment, design, supply, installation, commissioning and, for eligible installations, the installer side of the OZEV grant process.

What does EV charging installation involve?

A workplace or fleet charging installation is more than bolting chargers to a wall. Before specifying any equipment, we assess your existing electrical supply and distribution to establish what it can support. Where capacity is uncertain, a load monitoring survey gives you the data you need before you commit to a design.

Once we understand your infrastructure, we design a solution that matches your current requirements and leaves room to grow. We specify the right charger types and power ratings for your use case, whether that is destination charging for visitors and staff, fleet overnight charging, or rapid charging for high-turnover vehicles.

Where your site uses a building management system, we can advise on integration for load balancing and smart charging scheduling.

OZEV grant funding

The Workplace Charging Scheme (WCS) provides grant funding towards the cost of EV charge-point purchase and installation for eligible businesses, charities and public sector organisations. As an OZEV-authorised installer, we can help you understand eligibility and once the installation is complete, submit the installer claim on your behalf.

What our installation includes?

We carry out a site assessment and infrastructure review, produce a design and specification for your approval, and manage the full installation by our own qualified engineers. We commission and test every charger before handover and provide the appropriate electrical certification and documentation.

Why Prolec

We assess before we specify

We look at what your supply and distribution can support before recommending anything. This helps us specify an installation that works with your existing infrastructure, while taking account of your future charging requirements.

FAQs

Straight answers to the most common questions about commercial EV charging installation.

Do I need to upgrade my electrical supply before installing EV chargers?

Not always, but it depends on your existing infrastructure and the number and type of chargers you are installing. We carry out a site assessment before specifying anything. Where upgrades are needed, we will confirm the scope and cost before you commit.

What is the Workplace Charging Scheme?

The Workplace Charging Scheme provides funding towards the purchase and installation of EV chargepoints for eligible organisations. Eligibility and funding levels can change, so we’ll help you understand the current requirements for your installation.

What type of charger do we need?

This depends on your use case. Staff and visitor destination charging may use AC chargers such as 7kW or 22kW units. Fleet vehicles charging overnight can use similar ratings across multiple points. Rapid charging for high-turnover vehicles requires higher-power equipment and more substantial infrastructure. We specify based on your actual requirements.

Can you install chargers across multiple sites?

Yes. We work across multi-site estates and can manage the programme as a single coordinated project or as phased installation.
